Abstract
This study aims to investigate the English Department students' perception of the use of
Quillbot in English writing skripsi at Bengkulu University. This research uses a
qualitative approach involving 17 eighth-semester students who have started writing
their skripsi. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The results
showed that students consider Quillbot a useful and effective tool in helping to correct
grammar, suggest words, and paraphrase text. The use of Quillbot was found to increase
students' confidence in writing. Overall, students have a positive perception of using
Quillbot. However, there are concerns about dependent on Quillbot, which may reduce
critical thinking skills and independent writing ability. In particular, students appreciate
Quillbot ability to improve the flow and clarity of their writing. Despite these benefits,
they also asknowledge the importance of maintaining a balance between using Quillbot
and developing their own writing skills. Therefore, students are advised to use Quillbot
as a supporting tool, not a replacement for their writing skills. This study concludes that
Quillbot can be seen as a significant innovation in the field of academic writing that
helps students produce high-quality written work.
