Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the readiness of the students of English
Education Study Program at University of Bengkulu for autonomous English
language learning and to find out the perceptions of the students of English
Education Study Program at University of Bengkulu about autonomous learning.
This research was mixed methods. To collect the data, the researcher took 26
students of English department academic year 2023/2024 at university of
Bengkulu utilizing a questionnaire and interview. To analyze the data, researcher
used Microsoft Excel formula and an interactive model stated by Miles,
Huberman, and Saldana 2014. The results of this research were almost all
students’ are ready to receive autonomous learning, students know about
autonomous learning and the implementation way of autonomous learning, and
students agree that autonomous learning suitable to applied autonomous in
English Education Study Program at University of Bengkulu. It can be concluded
that students already know about the concept of independent learning, students
approved and ready to implement the concept of independent learning in the
English Education Study Program at Bengkulu University.
