Abstract
The objective of this study was to find out the types of English instructors
oral corrective feedback in speaking class at the Essential English Center Course
and to find out how the instructors's oral corrective feedback was implemented in
conversation class at the at the Essential English Center Course. The subjects of
this research included three English instructors and 30 students at the Essential
English Center Course. This study used descriptive and qualitative methods. The
percentages were used to analyze the data collected from the observation
checklist, and the interview method was used to analyze the data from the
research. The results showed that the most common forms of oral feedback that
English instructors used when teaching English learning were recast (37.10%),
repetition (33.88%), clarification request (19.35%), explicit correction (8.06%),
elicitation (1.61%).The English instructors at the Essential English Center Course
have different types for giving oral corrective feedback. These include: the
English instructor giving correct statements without providing an explanation for
the student's mistake; correcting the student by repeating it in its entirety; pausing
before continuing to the wrong part; gesturing with a raised intonation for the
student to continue; and repeating the student's words by raising the tone in the
correct part, pointing out mistakes, and telling students the correct form and
pronunciation.
