Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: direct positive correlation between
sentence structure knowledge and narrative essay writing skills, direct positive
correlation between reading habits and narrative essay writing skills, direct
positive correlation between reasoning ability with narrative essay writing skills,
direct positive correlation between sentence structure knowledge with reasoning
ability, and direct positive correlation between reading habits with reasoning
ability at sixth grade elementary school students in Bengkulu Tengah Regency.
This research uses survey method with path analysis technique. The population of
this study is the affordable population of class VI students at 15 elementary
schools in Bengkulu Tengah Regency, academic year 2019/2020 with 330
students consisting of 190 female students, 140 male students with an average age
of 11- 12 years, while the sample of this study all members of the population are
affordable, the sampling technique uses total sampling techniques. Data collection
was carried out using a closed questionnaire and test techniques. The results of the
study concluded that: sentence structure knowledge is directly positively
correlated with narrative essay writing skills, reading habits is positively
correlated directly with narrative essay writing skills, reasoning ability is
positively correlated directly with narrative essay writing skills, sentence structure
knowledge is positively correlated directly with reasoning ability , reading habits
is positively correlated directly with reasoning ability. So between sentence
structure knowledge, reading habits, and reasoning ability with narrative essay
writing skills have a significant positive correlation
