GAMBARAN KARAKTERISTIK PADA PASIEN RISIKO PERILAKU KEKERASAN DI RUANG RAWAT INAP RSKJ PROVISI BENGKULU

Violent behaviour is one of the manifestations of mental disorders that risk harming oneself, others, and
the environment. Schizophrenia is one of the most common diagnoses accompanied by the risk of violent
behaviour, which requires special attention and handling in mental nursing services. This study aims to
determine the characteristics of schizophrenia patients with the risk of violent behaviour in the inpatient
room of the Soeprapto Special Mental Hospital (RSKJ) Bengkulu Province. This study uses a quantitative
descriptive method with data collection techniques through questionnaires to 86 respondents. The results
showed that the majority of respondents were aged 17-25 years (26.7%), male (76.7%), had a high school
education level (38.4%), were unemployed (45.3%), and had a hospitalisation period of less than 6
months (93%). This finding indicates that the late adolescence to early adulthood age group, especially
males who are unemployed and have secondary education, are more at risk of violent behaviour. Age and
socio-economic pressure are thought to have an influence on the emergence of violent behaviour in
schizophrenia patients. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for developing
intervention strategies and preventing violent behaviour in mental health facilities, as well as a reference
for educational institutions and further research in mental nursing. By understanding these
characteristics, health workers can provide more appropriate and targeted interventions to improve the
quality of life of patients.
