Abstract
ELLLO emerged as an interactive and flexible web-based media for learning
English, particularly listening skills. Recognising this potensial, this study aims to
find out whether or not the use of ELLLO website could significantly affect
students' listening comprehension class X at SMAN 9 Bengkulu City, using a
quantitative pre-experimental one group pre- and post-test design. Although
listening is an important skill, it is still a challenge for students, mainly due to
unfamiliar vocabulary and the speed of speakers' speech. The researcher
conducted 6 meetings where each meeting had different achievement goals. The
results showed a significant improvement in students' listening skills after ELLLO
intervention. The average pre-test score was 43.20, increasing to 70.53 in the post-
test, with an average increase of 27.33 points. The significance value (2-tailed) of
.000 (<0.05) confirmed that this improvement was statistically significant and not
due to chance. Improvement occurred in all three listening sub-skills: main idea,
supporting details, and inference. The supporting details sub-skill showed the
most significant improvement among the three sub-skills. These results suggested
that the use of English Listening Lesson Library Online (ELLLO) media has a
positive and significant effect on students' listening skills.
