Abstract
This study aims to investigate the types of errors and the factors that
influenced the students’ error in writing bound morpheme. This research
was a descriptive qualitative study with document analysis. The subject of
this study was the eighth grade students of junior high school. The data
were words on students’ writing. The result showed that there were
several types of errors in writing bound morpheme by the Indonesian
learners of SMPIT AN-NIDA’ Lubuklinggau. The types of errors found in
this study were (1) inflectional noun plural (41.42%), (2) inflectional verb
progressive (14.79%), (3) inflectional verb third person (14.20%), (4)
derivational change word classes (12.43%), (5) inflectional verb past tense
(-ed) (7.10%), (6) inflectional noun possessive (4.73%), (7) inflectional
adjective superlative (3.55%) and (8) inflectional adjective comparative
(1.78%). The factors influence the students making error in writing bound
morpheme found in this study were: (1) ignorance of rule restriction
(59.17%), (2) false concept hypothesis (18.94%), (3) overgeneralization
(13.61%) and (4) incomplete application of the rule (8.28%). It concluded
that the do minant error was inflectional noun plural and it caused that the
students have difficulty distinguishing about plural nouns in the target
language. While, the factor influence of language error dominantly was
ignorance of the rule restriction and it affected the level of student errors in
writing.
