Abstract

The objective of the research is to increase the quality of teaching and
learning English through cooperative classroom management. The research subyects
were the third grade at the first semester students of elementary school 2 Sungai
Baung academic year 2008 / 2009. The research method was an action research. Data
were collected through pre research observation, pre test, post test and observation of
teaching and learning process. Based on the result of the pre test, an action program
was designed. This program contained the planning and how to implement it in order
that student could improve their quality of teaching and learning. The instrument of
this action research were the researcher, collaborator, the students and the given test.
The results of the research show that cooperative classroom management which used
cooperative learning model was able to increase significantly the quality of the
teaching and learning of english at the third grade students of elementary school 2
Sungai Baung.
