Abstract
This study aims to analyze the financial performance comparison between Islamic banking
and convenstional banking in Indonesia is comparable to using the CAMELS ratios and
determine wether there are significant differences in financial performance between Islamic
banking and conventional banking.
This research is a quantitative study, using research methods that emphasize testing thories
through the measurement of the research variables with statistical procedures. The data used
are secondary data, ie data obtained from informaton published by Bank Indonesia in January
2005 until December 2009. The method of data collection is in the form of documentation,
obtained from the electronic media. The analysis method used is to calculate the CAMELS
ratios represented by the ratio of CAR, NPL, BOPO, ROA, ROE, LDR, dan NDP, the
calculation results were then grouped according to the ratio of the ratio of a bank that has
been determined and based on years respectively, and then performed statistical analysis and
testing using a comparative analysis of independent sample t-test, with the citerion used is if
the probability value (Sig.) t-count < alpha 0,05, then there is a significant difference in
financial performance between Islamic banks and conventional banks, and if the probability
value (Sig.) t-count > alpha 0,05, then there is no significant difference in financial
performance between Islamic baks and conventional banks.
The results showed that the NPL, BOPO, ROA, ROE, and LDR did not differ significantly
between Islamic banking and conventional banking, on the variable CAR and PDN that
showed significant differences between Islamic banking and conventional banking.
