Abstract

This research analyzed the influence of delaying on the closing valve intake toward the machine performance in Honda GX-160. It is conduct to modify the cycle of otto to make it closer to the characteristic of Atkinson cycle. The delaying of the closing by changing the camshaft’s profile causes the delaying of the valve closing process. Then, the result was compared with the standard camshaft. In the standard condition, the higher torsion found on the 2400 rpm or
on 5.50 N.m, on the other hand the lower torsion was on the 4300 rpm or on 0.86N.m. In the modify condition, the higher torsion found on the 2800 rpm or on 2.36N.m, and the lower torsion was on the 4300 rpm or on 0.65N.m. The higher
power was got in the standar camshaft condition on 2600 rpm or on 1.91 hp and for the lower power war on 4300 rpm or on 0.52 hp. Also in the modify camshaft condition, the higher power was on 3200 rpm or on 0.98 hp and the lower power
on 4300 rpm or on 0.39 hp. The higher torsion and the power was got in the standard camshaft condition. Spesific Fuell Consumtion (SFC) in standard condition was lower than modify camshaft condition. On standard camshaft the lower value was on 2600 rpm or on 0.38kg/hp.h,and the lower SFC in the modify camshaftwas on 3200 rpm or on 0.91 kg/hp.h.
