Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of coral fish communities as indicators of the stability of coral reef ecosystems in the waters of Tikus Island. Results showed that visual census results collected from as many as 1277 fish consists of 104 coral fish species and 19 families with a density of 10216 fish/ha. Under the category of mayor fish is obtained as many as 35 target fish species, 50 species of major fish and 19 species of fish indicator of the family Chaetodontidae. Composition of fish species which is most of the family Chaetodontidae (18.27%), Pomacentridae (14.42%), Labridae (14.42%) and Acanthuridae (10.58%). Condition of the structure of coral fish communities tend to be stable due to the high species diversity index (H ') with a value of 3.93 and uniformity index (E) of 0.85. While the dominance index (C) tends to approach zero (0.03) which means no fish species that dominate other fish species. The stability of coral fish communities is also supported by water quality conditions suitable for marine life.
