Abstract
This paper discussed about how the farmer household built coping strategies during crisis period, especially in utilizing their social capitals. By which social capital were identified as social trust, participation in association, collective norm, and social network. The fluctuation of rubber price they taken caused them to adapt several strategies which contributed to minimize their condition became more unexpected. The aims of this research were to describe the social capital of rubber farmer, to explore how the farmer built their coping strategies, and to analize the correlation between social capital and coping strategy. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman Correlation. The result showed that social capital had high category. The coping strategies that farmer did were classified into three dimensions i.e strategies livelihood diversification, strategy in reducing household expenditures, and other strategies. The last, fastors which corelated with coping strategy were, the trust was negative (very low), the level of participation in association was positive (low), the collective norms was positive (very low), and the social network was positive (low).
