Abstract
This study was conducted from April-June 2011 to determine the diversity of surface soil insects. This study used survey methods in the field and continued in the laboratory. Sampling area was defined by purposive sampling method, insect collected by using pitfall traps. Result showed that there were 22 families (7 orders) of insect that captured by pitfall traps. The highest density was the order of Hymenoptera, it was 2.3 individuals/trap (KR = 28 %) with 4 families. The highest frequency was found in the presence of the order of Hymenoptera (100%). Diversity Index of soil insects on the surface of the rubber plantation was 1.2.
