Abstract

This research was to identify and to make scienc e teachers' competence mapping as efforts to improve teachers professionality. The specific objectives of this research were: l) to provide Science teachers' competence and test-item analysis mapping, 2) to analysis the corretion of teachers' competence score and National Examination Score for Science. This was adescriptive qualitative research with 30 Science Teachers from Juniors High School in Lebong Sub-Province as subject. This research showed that: 1) There were many Science teachers in Lebong Srib-Province which do not fulfl1l qualification standard and teachers'professional competencr. majority of them were not certified (13%). Their professional competency score still relatively low (under 75) and the majority score was between 4l-60, 2) correlation coefficient rvas 0.2 with significancy value 0.289 > 0.05 showed that there was no significant correlation between National Examination Score for Science score (Y) and Science Teacher competency in Lebong Sub-Province in the year 2013. This happened because there were other factors which influencing national examination score including instrument which used for this research.
