Abstract

This research is a quantitative study that aims to determine the effect of using the talking stick learning model on the speaking skills of fifth grade students of SDN cluster III Bengkulu City. The sample of this study was grade V students of SDN 17 as an experimental group and SDN 57 as a control class in group III Bengkulu City. The research instrument used was an oral test sheet, which was used to assess students' speaking skills in giving arguments. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. Based on the results of research conducted, there are differences in the average between the two sample classes, namely the experimental and control classes. The experimental class obtained an average value of 81.7 while the control class with an average value of 72. In the variant test there were differences, the experimental class 9.695 and the control class 7.773. In the normality test it was found that the calculated x2 value (25.0646) <x2 table (37.6524), which means the experimental class and the control class were normally distributed. From the homogeneity test, it was obtained that fcount (1.2472) <ftabel (3.82), which means both homogeneous variants. Based on the results of the t-test obtained t count (12.44)> t table (1.675) which means there are differences in learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. The conclusion in this study is that there is a significant influence on students' speaking skills in research using the talking stick learning model.
