Abstract
The aims of this research were to describe the students’ mastery of English homophones at the fifth semester students of English Education Study Program of Universitas Bengkulu in 2018/2019 Academic Year. The subjects were 78 of the fifth semester students of English Education Study Program of Univeristas Bengkulu in 2018/2019 Academic Year. The instrument of this research was English homophones test with 50 questions. The technique of collecting data by asked the students to circle a word that has different pronunciation from other words. The result of this research showed that the students’ mastery of English homophones was low or in the poor category. The score of English homophones test showed that 81% of the students in the Poor category, 13% of the students in the Good category, 6% of the students in the Average category, and none of the students in the Excellent category.
