Abstract

This research was conducted to classified land capability and identified unexpected land use for modeling of regional development based on land conservation. Survey method was used to collected primery data and overlay with Arcview 3.3. was conducted to analysis thematic map data. The result show that regional development in Lebong Regency should be conducted with focus on land conservation as based because of 100.483,3 ha (60,37%) it’s area on land capability class VI-VIII. The class not suitable for agriculture. It’s supported to by land status where 120.565,78 ha (72,24%) of the area decided as conservation area. Unexpected land use was 6.809,24 ha (4,09%) based on land capability class and 6.573,88 ha (3,95%) based on land status. The unexpected land use as agriculture activity affected by social economic factors, not land physics, indicated by unexpected land use 2.292,96 ha (1,38%) on land capability class VI, 923,99 ha (0,56%) class VII dan 3.592,29 ha (2,16%) on class VIII. Land capability class VI-VIII not suitable for agriculture. The land allocation guidelines based on land conservation in Lebong Regency comprise: (1) protected area comprising of 135,84 ha (0.08%) for Protected Area Danau Menghijau, 2.774,82 ha (1.67%) for Protected Area Danau Tes, 16.123,20 ha (9.70%) for Conservation Forest Bukit Daun, and 101.531,92 ha (61.05%) for Kerinci Seblat National Park, (2) cultivated area which consist of 9.759,06 ha (5.87%) for very intensive agriculture, 12.204,73 ha (7.34%) for intensive agriculture, 1.867,26 ha (1.12%) for moderate agriculture, 14.837,64 ha (8.92%) for limited agriculture, 3.277,25 ha (1.97%) for intensive grasslands dan 3.786,24 ha (2.28%) for forests.
