Abstract
ABSTRACT Sholihah. N.M. (2022). The Implementation of High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in Pandemic Situation by English Teacher at Senior High School Number 9 Bengkulu City. Undergraduate Thesis. English Education Study Program. Languages and Arts Department. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. University of Bengkulu. Supervisor: Kasmaini, SS. M. Pd., Co�supervisor: Zahrida, SS. M. Hum. The integration of HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills) in education system is considered important to prepare students in facing 21st century. Hence, the Ministry of Education and Culture embodied HOTS in 2013 curriculum. Nowadays, education system faces new challenges due to covid-19 pandemic. Thus, this study aims to find out how did the English teacher at SMAN 09 Bengkulu City implemented HOTS during pandemic. The participant was an English teacher at SMAN 09 Bengkulu city. The method used was qualitative data analysis using documentation (teacher‟s lesson plan), observations and interview to collect the data. The result showed that the teacher implemented HOTS during pandemic. Nevertheless, the implementation of HOTS during pandemic was scanty and did not run maximal due to students‟ minimal participation. There was also found that the implementation of HOTS was inseparable with LOTS. In conclusion, pandemic had huge impact for the teacher in implementing HOTS and affecting students‟ critical thinking.
