Abstract
The purposes of this research was to evaluate relationship between weight of oil palm fruit bunch and soil Ca, Mg and CEC. The research was conducted in one of the oil palm estate in Putri Hijau, North Bengkulu from September to December 2005. The plantation lies on 75 m above sea level with physiographic of waving to hilly, 8 – 45%, with rain of 3.027 mm yr-1. Area of the research was used 270 Ha with potential yield of fruit bunch was 1.277 tons ha-1 month-1. Fruit bunch weight (FBW) was highly correlated with content of soil Ca, Mg and CEC. Relationship of soil Ca and FBW was revealed with equation : Y = 2.9128x + 14.775; r = 0.3772 on land with slop of <15% and Y = 1.2903x + 6.3677; r = 0.3549 on those of >15%. Soil Mg content related to FBW with equation of Y = 15.324x + 17.737; r = 0.1982 on the oil palm land with slope of <15% and Y = 6.4321x + 8.4666; r =0.2211 the slope of >15%. Soil CEC quite related to FBW with equation of Y = 1.1309x + 16.677; r = 0.6510 on land with slope of <15% and Y = 1.67x + 2.4161; r = 0.6555 on the land slope of >15%. Improving availability of soil Ca, Mg, and increasing soil CEC was followed by the increasing yield of oil palm fruit bunch.
