Abstract

This study aims to find out the communication strategies employed by English teachers when teaching students with oral communication disabilities in special education schools in Kota Bengkulu. Additionally, it also explored the rationale reasons behind these strategies. The researcher used qualitative research design. Data were collected through classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with five English teachers from five different special education schools. The researcher used Douglas theory in designing the instruments. The findings revealed that teachers primarily utilized body language, visual aids, writing, facial expressions, and games emphasize the importance of adapting instruction to meet the specific needs of each student. These strategies demonstrated the teachers' dedication to fostering inclusive and effective learning environments for students with oral communication disabilities. These multimodal strategies not only improve students' understanding and involvement but also promote their overall language acquisition and interpersonal abilities. The researcher suggests the next researcher to conduct the similar focus by involving more respondents. Keywords: Communication Strategies, Oral Communication Disabilities Students
