Abstract

This research aims to investigate students' perceptions of using Spotify to improve listening skills and know the impact of these perceptions. This research involved sixth-semester students of the Bengkulu University English study program, with a total sample of 46 students. Using mixed-methods sequential explanation, the study began with a quantitative phase using questionnaires to collect data, followed by qualitative interviews with six students to further explore the impact of Spotify on their listening practices. The data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis. The findings revealed that students had positive perceptions of Spotify. They find the platform easy to use, with engaging content, useful lyric features, and clear pronunciation. Spotify is considered effective for learning English and improving listening skills. Students find Spotify a valuable tool that improves language learning and overall listening comprehension. In conclusion, this research shows that students have positive perceptions of using Spotify to improve their listening skills and highlights its effectiveness as a language learning aid.
