Abstract
This study entitles Teachers techniques in reducing anxiety in English classes. The objective of this research is to investigate what are the techniques used by the teachers of SMA N 1 Bengkulu in reducing anxiety in English classes. To investigate the techniques, the researcher conducted some observation in English classes of SMA N 1 Bengkulu. The data is then analyzed by using percentage system which was found the result: the teachers used awareness (15, 70%), positive climate (9, 61%), behavioral contracting (5, 44%), behavioral contracting (4, 48%), relaxation(3, 52%), rewards(2, 24%) self-talk(1, 92%), Students supports group(1, 92%), diaries and dialogue journal(0, 32%) and there were some items 100% used by the teachers (5 items), 75% used (8 items), 50%and 25% used (15 items) then 0% used(11 items). Looking at the result, the teacher should maintain their techniques and improve the other techniques in reducing anxiety effectively.
