This study is conducted to estimate the potency of sweet potato as a source of alternative non - rice food, Cluster area sampling method is used to select 10 villages as research location. From each village, ten farmers are selected randomly so total of two hundred farmers. Analytical descriptive method is used to analyze data gathered from interview with guiding of questionnaires. The research found that 90.5 % total production of sweet potato is marketed while the remaining is used for consumption and labors. This research is also found that more than 96 % of sweet potato produced by farmers in District of Mukomuko, North Bengkulu, and Kepahyang are marketed. For Bengkulu farmers, sweet potato is not an alternative non – rice food for their household members, but it has significant role for household economies. Furthermore, the research is also found that sweet potato production is able to supply energy for every Bengkulu resident approximately 48.41 kkal/capita/day. This equals to 2.36 % of energy required to conduct normal or daily activities.
