Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there are differences in biology students' learning outcomes VII.4 class that uses the cooperative learning model Think Pair Share (TPS) with the results of studying biology VII.1 grade students who use the model of Problem Based Instruction (PBI) on the subject classification living things. This research is experimental research on comparison between cooperative learning TPS with PBI on student learning outcomes VII SMP 21 class city of Bengkulu. The sample used by 2 classes namely VII.4 class numbered 34 students and VII1.1 class numbered 31 students who were taken by random sampling. The instrument used in the form of the test sheet. From the research results obtained mean pretest grade students in cooperative learning VII.4 TPS is 47.94 while the mean posttest result is an increase of 10.88 58.82. The mean pretest results VII.1-grade students in learning PBI is 58.06 while the mean posttest result is an increase of 12.58 70.64. The technique used to test the hypothesis in this study using the Mann-Whitney U test. Based on the calculation results obtained by the price p = 0.332 significance level greater than 0.05 at significance level of 5%. Thus, Ho is accepted which means there is no difference in learning outcomes VII.4 grade biology students who use the cooperative learning model TPS with the results of studying biology VII.1 grade students usingthe learning model PBI.
