Abstract
The purpose of this research was to analyze the positive and negative externalities of sand mining activities especially in the village of Lubuk Ubar Rejang Lebong, both in physical impact, social and economic. The research was a descriptive research. The data used in this research is the primary data obtained from questionnaires deployment. Responden in this research amount to 40 people consisting of 15 miners and 25 communities around the mine. Based on research conducted, it is known externality posed is, the positive externalities : employment, labor income and some people who take advantage oh the mining activities, development of economic structure. The negative externalities : pollution of river, destruction of road around the area of mining. Air pollution.
