Abstract
The objectives of the research were to know the extrinsic motivation of civil servant employees of state owned companies in Bengkulu City, and to analyze the difference of extrinsic motivation between them. Data used in this research was primary dara by questionnaires distributing to 150 respondents. Sampling method used was purposive sampling. Respondents were classified into two groups (group of civil servant and group of employees of state owned companies). Three extrinsic motivation variables focused were incentive, supervision, and working environment. Analysis tool used was discriminant analysis. The results show majority of respondents have adequate extrinsic motivation. Using 1-5 likert scale, mean of extrinsic motivation between civil servant and employees of state owned companies is different. Variables differed these two groups I the extrinsic motivation for incentive. Civil servants have lower extrinsic motivation for incentive than employees of state owned companies.
