Abstract
The land has problem in fertility. But agricultural extension can be performed on infertile soil, as in the most marginal land and coals mine overburden soil to be rather widespread in Indonesia. The problem if using coal mine overburden soil for agriculture is the land has a minumum the organic matter, such as N, P, and K. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of chicken manure and NPK on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharat a Sturt) in coals mine overburden soil . This research as did from November 2012 – February 2013 at the Green House on Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu . This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors . the first Factor was a dose of chicken manure, that is : 0 ton.ha, 10 ton.ha fertilizer 15-15-15) , namely : 0 kg.ha-1, 20 ton.ha-1, 100 kg.ha-1, 30 ton.ha, 200 kg.ha 1 . The second was a factor to NPK, 300 kg.ha. The results showed if the growth of sweet corn without treatment in coal mine overburden soil afford to growing and producing. Interaction was obtained on the number of leaves , cobs long lines. The netto of cob with chicken manure treatment 10 ton.ha is 234.83 g and with NPK fertilizer 100 kg.ha is 260.91 g. These results have not yet reached the average weight of a potential bonanza of sweet corn cobs F1 of 480 g per ear.
