Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of using lemuru fish oil encapsulation ( EML ) in feed based on oil sludge fermentation (LSF) and extract of katuk leaves (EDK) on the performance of laying hens. This study used 40 laying hens that has production in 7 months , divided into 4 treatments with 10 replications and each replication containing 1 laying hen which placed randomly on the battery cage system . Treatment consists of P0 ( feed without LSF , EDK and EML ) , P1 ( feed with 15 % LSF , EDK 0.6 % , 2.5% EML ) , P2 ( feed with 15 % LSF , EDK 0.6 % , 5 , 0 % EML ) and P3 ( feed with 15 % LSF , EDK 0.6 % , 7.5 % EML ). The results showed that encapsulation of lemuru fish oil in feed based on oil sludge fermentation and extract of katuk leaves were significantly (P < 0.05 ) on feed consumption , feed conversion and feed efficiency , but the effect were not significant ( P > 0.05) on the percentage of egg production , egg production and the number of egg mass production . Feed consumption showed P1 did not significant ( P > 0.05 ) with P2 , but was significantly higher ( P < 0.05 ) compared to P0 and P3 . Feed conversion showed P1 did not significant ( P > 0.05 ) with P2 and P3 but was significantly higher ( P < 0.05 ) compared to P0 . P0 shows the ration efficiency was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than the P1 , P2 and P3 . Based on the results of this study concluded that the effect of lemuru fish oil in feed based on oil sludge fermentation and extract of katuk leaves at a level of 2.5% , 5.0% and 7.5 % were not able to improve the performance of laying chicken , but this effect were able to give a performance that were not different from the control feed.
