Abstract
Cholesterol is very important for many badily function,but hypercholesrolemia due to high dietary level of cholesterol increase cardiovascular disease mainly arthrosclerosis and coronary heart disease. Niacin isefective in reducing cholesterol and triglycerides and appears to help protect against cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of niacin on egg cholesterol, total lipid, cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL and HDL of japaness quail serum. Completely Randomized Design was used in this study with 6 treatments,4 quails of each treatment with 5 replicates. The level of niacin were 0 mg/kg (control), 200 mg/kg, 400 mg/kg, 600 mg/kg, 800 mg/kg, and 1000 mg/kg. result showed that supplementation 600 mg/kg of niacin had significantly decrease egg cholesterol, and high level of niacin (1000mg/kg) had significantly decreased level of cholesterol (41,16%), triglycerides (25,87%), LDL (29,71%) and increased level of HDL (37,77%) on japaness quail serum
