Abstract

The research is aimed to obtain the effectiveness of mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L) extract as antibacterial for growth eliminated of Salmonella typhi as thypus factor. Disk diffusion method was applied first, defined mengkudu extract (20%, 35%, 50%, 65% and 80%). For the next step, we tested them as a serial strength of antibacterial which interpreted by measurement of transparent zone. It showed that 65% mengkudu extract was the best antibacterial for the Salmonella typhi. It has 6.5 mm transparent zone, better than control liquid chloramphenicol 50μg/ml (5 mm transparent zone). The lowest zone found on 20% mengkudu extract, it was 4.75 mm transparent zone.
