Abstract

The research was aimed to know the effective consentration of essential oil of Eclipta prostrata leaves as an effective ingredient of lotion mosquito repellent on Aedes aegypti. The research was done from December 2006 to May 2007, at Entomology Laboratory and Biological Control, FMIPA UNIB. The sequence of research were preparation of egg and mass rearing of Aedes aegypti, destilation of essential oil from Eclipta prostrata leaves, production of lotion, pre-testing and effectivity test. The research was design by Completely Randomized Design by six treatments with four replications. Each replication was used 40 mosquitos which had been starved for 24 hours, and done for 30 minutes. The pre-testing was aimed to find the IC 5 and IC The effectivity test was aimed to find the effective concentration (IC 50 90.) and was analyzed with to probit analysis. The data were analyzed by using ANOVA and be continued by DMRT. According the pre-testing, the result was gained that IC 5 as high as 1200 ppm and IC as high as 4800 ppm. According to ANOVA, the result showed each treatment having influence significantly. The effective concentration based on value of IC 50 90 from analysis probit, was 2305.16 ppm.
