Abstract

The research was conducted from October 2010 to February 2011. The objective of the research was to find out the species as well as their parts that were utilized by the people of Tebat Monok village who live near the Bukit Daun protected forest in Kepahiang Bengkulu. The research included interview, plant collection, plant preservation (herbarium) plant identification, and data analysis. Specimen were collected by exploration method, the specimen were photographed, then were utilized as herbarium at Laboratory, finally the data was identified and analyzed descriptively. The data of plants utilization by communities was collected by interview. The result indicated there were 17 Species that belonged to 12 families. Plant part that were utilized by local community as much as 7 species (41.18%) were stalks/trunk, 5 species (29.42%) were leaves, 5 species (29.42%) were as fruit, 2 species (11.76%) was branch, 1 species (5.98%) was tuber, 1 species (5.98%) was flower, 1 species (5.98%) was juice, 1 species (5.98%) was fiber, 1 species (5.98%) was bark, and 1 species (5.98%) was the root. The utilization of the plants were: 7 species (41.18%) were used as food, 6 species (25.29%) were used as construction materials, 3 species (17.65%) were used as firewood, 3 species (17.65%) were used as handicraft materials, 5 species (29.41%) were used as herbal medicine, and 1 species (5.98%) were used as supplement for betel chewing.
