Abstract
This research was conducted to find out the difficulties and the other difficulties that
faced by the students in Listening for Lecture at English Education Study Program at
University of Bengkulu in Academic Year of 2018/2019. This research was a
descriptive quantitative method. The population and sample of this research had all the
students of fourth semester at English Education Study Program at University of
Bengkulu in Academic year of 2018/2019. The fourth semester studentsof English
Education Study Program consisted of98 students that divided into three classes. There
are A, B and C. The gathering of the data by using questionnaire and interview. The
questionnaire adopted from Hamouda (2013), that consist of 45 statements. The
statements consist of listening material (9 items), linguistic aspects (7 items), lack of
concentration (7 items), speaker (7 items), listener (7 items), psychological category (5
items) and physical setting (3 items). The questionnaire distributed by using google
form.While, the interview consist of one question. The are two findings of this study.
Firstly, students difficulties in Listening for Lecturesuch as: physical setting, listening
material, lack of concentration, speaker, listener, psychological characteristicsand
linguistic aspects. Secondly, the other difficulties that faced by the students are; lack of
vocabularies; lack of concentration; speed of speech; material; techniques in listening,
pronunciation; the interest of the students; background knowledge and mood; predict
the speaker talk about and listening strategies.
