Abstract

This research is aimed at finding the rules of good conversation carried out by Alex and Piers
Morgan on the Good Morning Britain television program starting from the ends of signal
turns, turn allocation and Types of Turn Construction Unit. This research is a qualitative
descriptive study. The subject of this research is a video uploaded on YouTube of a very viral
debate event about a black racism that aired on the Good Morning Britain television program.
The results of this research data are taken from the results of observing conversations from
existing video subjects and researchers. complete a transcript which will later be used to
obtain data. Data were analyzed based on the theory of Sacks and Schegloff (1974). The first
finding is the finding of turn allocation in conversations from participants using the words
okay, right, by the way and others. The second finding is the end of signal turn where
participants take over, overlapping, interruption and yielding the turn. The third finding is
that of the four types of TCU there are a total of 22 data, 15 data of sentential turns, 2 data of
lexical turns, 2 data of phrasal turns, and 3 data of clauseal turns. It can be concluded that
conversations carried out by two or more people have rules, when to speak and when to be
silent or take over the conversation.
