Abstract

This study aims to determine the difficulties of English teachers in designing
and implementing learning plans based on the Kurikulum Merdeka at SMPN 24
Bengkulu City. The researcher used a mixed method in data collection, in quantitative
design using questionnaire and observation instruments, in qualitative design the
researcher used interview instruments. Two English teachers who implement the
Kurikulum Merdeka are the participants.The results show that teachers have
difficulties in designing learning plans based on the Kurikulum Merdeka such as in
designing learning activities. Teachers have difficulty in adjusting the activities
according to the available time allocation, formulating assessments, and adapting
infrastructure in schools, while in implementing lesson plan based on Kurikulum
Merdeka, Teachers have difficulty in managing time, implementing different learning
and using learning media. Based on this study, it can be concluded that English
teachers at SMPN 24 Bengkulu City face various challenges in designing and
implementing learning plans based on the Kurikulum Merdeka. These findings
indicate the need for further support and training for teachers to optimize the
implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka.
