Abstract
This study aims to identify the types of adjustment experienced by pre-service
student teachers from the University of Bengkulu and their strategies for coping
during their international teaching practicum. A descriptive qualitative method
was employed in this research. The focus subjects were participants from the
SEA-Teacher Batch 9 program from the University of Bengkulu. Semi-structured
interviews were conducted through online meetings, and the data analysis was
carried out in four stages: coding, data reduction, data display, and drawing
conclusions. The results indicate that the main areas of adjustment during the
international teaching practicum include new school environment, unew
educational systems, and teaching in the class. Common strategies used by the
students included seeking assistance from teachers, mentors, and student buddies,
preparing and practicing, and conducting evaluations. It can be concluded that
while the adjustments posed significant challenges for the students, they learned
resilience and developed effective adaptation strategies.
