Abstract
This study aims to determine the challenges of teachers in the process of assessing
P5 at SMA Negeri 1 Bengkulu Utara. This study uses a descriptive qualitative
method with a case study approach, involving two P5 coordinator teachers and three
P5 facilitator teachers as subjects. Data were collected through interviews and
documentation, including E-Rapot and P5 assessment rubrics, which were then
analyzed using the analysis method from Miles and Huberman (Abdussamad,
2021). The research findings indicate that there are three main challenges in P5
assessment: the challenge of low student collaboration, the challenge of teachers in
the initial assessment of P5 implementation & differences of opinion between
teachers, and the challenge of the large number of students in one class. The
dynamics of student groups vary, with some showing active participation while
others tend to be passive, thus affecting collaboration in assessment. The ambiguity
in the assessment criteria also causes confusion among teachers, which impacts the
consistency and objectivity of the assessment. With a large number of students in
one class, teachers face challenges in providing enough individual attention to
assess the character development of each student in depth. This study recommends
the need for training for teachers on the use of more effective assessment rubrics
and assessment techniques that encourage student collaboration. Schools should
also provide support in the form of professional development and technology
integration in assessment. This research is expected to contribute to the
development of better assessment practices within the framework of the Merdeka
Belajar curriculum and strengthening the Pancasila student profile. Future
researchers are advised to explore the long-term impact of the P5 assessment
method on student character development and investigate the use of technology in
assessment. By focusing on these aspects, further research can make a significant
contribution to the development of better assessment methods in character
education.
