Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation of teaching science
using English for 5th grade at SD Islam Al-Azhar 51 Bengkulu. This study used a
qualitative method. The subjects of this study were three teachers who teach
science using English in grade five. In this study, the researcher used an
observation checklist and interview as instruments. The observation checklist
consisted of 5 stages; engaging, exploring, explaining, elaborate and evaluating.
Menwhile, the interview consisted of problems faced by the teachers in teaching,
namely language difficulty, recognize specific words in a category, and text
analysis. The results showed that the implementation of science teaching using
English in the five stages reached an average of 3.13 with a good category. In
addition, the finding also showed that the teacher problems in using English as the
Medium of Instruction in teaching natural science subject were language
difficulties which include polysemous word, different vocabularies, and text
analysis
