Abstract
This study aims to determine the extent to which students' Self-Efficacy and
Anxiety predict Performance in speaking classes. This study uses quantitative
methods by using SPSS in processing data. The researcher used questionnaire
instruments and students' final public speaking scores to conduct the study. The
sample in this study was second semester English students at Bengkulu University
class of 2023 with a total of 51 students. The results obtained by the researcher in
this study were a significance value of less than 0.031 < 0.05, indicating that Self-
efficacy significantly predicts performance in speaking classes, while a significant
value of 0.097 > 0.05 that anxiety does not predict performance in speaking classes.
The conclusion of this study is Self-Efficacy significantly predicts performance but
anxiety does not predict performance, because anxiety often occurs before learning
takes place which does not predict performance in speaking class.
