Abstract
The study aims to find out the teachers’ readiness, supporting factors, and obstacles faced
by English teachers in English subject in implementing Merdeka curriculum at SMAN 01
Bengkulu Tengah. This study employed mixed methods and the participants were three
English teachers who taught English subject at X-XI grade at SMAN 01 Bengkulu
Tengah in Bengkulu Province. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires and
interviews. The questionnaire consisted of 23 items with four possible answers; Strongly
Agree, Agree, Not Agree and Strongly Not Agree. Then the researcher conducted
interviews to answer research question number two and three. The result shows the
readiness in implementing the curriculum in their classroom showed is teachers have
three categories answers of readiness: strongly agree, agree, and not agree. And the
highest score are agree and strongly agree with 77% of readiness in learning plan,
learning process and learning evaluation. The results of interviews shows that teachers
have obstacles in access PMM, obstacles of English texbooks and obstacles in diagnose
assessment. Then, the supporting factors shows teachers have learning community, school
facilitate providing, and teachers’ understanding in PMM. From the results obtained in
this study, it was hoped that teachers to be more prepare to get ready in the
implementation of Merdeka curriculum in English subject to achieve their goals as
expected.
