Abstract
The purposes of this research were (1) to identify and analyze the factors that affect
poverty level in Mukomuko Regency and (2) to find out the effectiveness of
implementation of local government policy as an effort to decrease the poverty level in
Mukomuko Regency. The design of this research was descriptive quantitative since it
was done to find out and describe the phenomena happened in a real life by using
statistical calculation. The types of the data used in this research were primary data
which was gotten by spreading questionnaire. And the research methods were
descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis.
Based on data analysis result, it is found that: (1) the working family, assets owning,
level of education, health fund, skills, and the amount of the dependents variables have
a significant contribution toward the increasing of family income in Mukomuko
Regency, that was for about 43.9%; (2) partially, from those seven variables, only
working family, asset owning, level of education, and skill that significantly affect the
level of poverty level in Mukomuko Regency; (3) asset owning was the most
influential variable toward poverty level of the Mukomuko family with the regression
coefficient of 361316.5; (4) the average the poor family in Mukomuko Regency have
several limitations, such as limitation of income, health fund, skill, and talent; (5) the
effectiveness of the local government policy implementation in decreasing the
Mukomuko poverty level did not run well yet. It could be seen from the number of
poor family population in Mukomuko which reached 43,778 peoples or 28.11% from
the total population.
